WHAT IS DOGGY ‘POO?
What is Doggy ‘Poo you ask? It is a shampoo for your furry friends! However, this Doggy ‘Poo is so much more than a shampoo for your dog, it is a shampoo with a purpose.
I remember the first time hearing about the cause behind Doggy’Poo. I was sitting in a Unite Paramount Business class in Minneapolis, Minnesota. For those of you not familiar with the Unite brand, check out their website at Unitehair.com to meet the CEO and Founder, Andrew Dale. Andrew Dale is a very passionate man who believes in making salon owners and stylists life easier. He also is a lover of dogs! 🐶 ❤️
Besides making great hair care products, he is also a stylist and the owner of a salon in California. Did you know that a portion of all profits from the Unite Salon in San Diego go directly into supporting San Diego charities to help those without a voice? Pretty cool, huh?
So what is the purpose behind Doggy Poo you ask? To give back! ALL of the proceeds from the sale of Doggy ‘Poo are going to two organizations that are near and dear to Dale and his Unite Team’s hearts: The San Diego Humane Society and Shelter to Soldier. Isn’t that amazing!?!
Here at Mod, we certainly think so! So with all that being said, come check out Doggy’Poo here at the salon. It has oatmeal to soothe your furry friend’s skin and Argan Oil to promote a healthy and shiny coat. It is “Human tested, doggy approved.”
Stop by Mod’s beauty store and treat your pup to a spa day! 🐶

‼️TRAINING IN PROGRESS‼️
Quiet!! Training: In Progress! Here at Mod Hair Color Salon & Beauty Store we believe education and training is vital to our success behind the chair. Not only is it what continues to make us a better stylist year after year, it is what can make or break a new stylist. That is why we are creating a training program here at the salon for stylists coming out of school. ?
The goal behind the training program is to allow for an easier transition from school to salon. Think of it as a residency for Cosmetologists. We are expecting the finished training program to be anywhere from 6-12 months.
I have been working with two very talented young stylists to create this training program for the past 4 months. Together we are discovering what works and what doesn’t all the while training them to become the best! The future of our stylists is very important to Jody and I.
I asked Mataya Clark what she liked best about the training program and she told me this, “In school you learn the basics of every cut, style, and color. This program allows you to learn more advanced techniques and fully prepare you for the unexpected. Being in a fast pace salon environment really opens your eyes to all the possibilities of becoming a successful stylist.”
She is right. You just can’t learn it all in school. Salon owners and senior stylists have an obligation to guide their team. We need to take part in creating greatness in our industry. It is our responsibility to teach the next generation. In doing so we can truly learn a great deal.
Sara Fisher was the first to start in this program. She says she loves being a part of the development of the program. “I am happy to be apart of this development because I’ll really be able to see how much it changes and grows for stylists who are a part of it in the future. To be able to eventually coach others will be extremely rewarding.”
We look forward to seeing how far they have grown once they have completed the training program. They have already gained so much. Sara and Mataya are currently behind the chair on Saturdays doing blow outs, formal styling, waxing, makeup and hair treatments. They currently are in the cutting portion of the training program and have a goal of cutting hair behind the chair in October. This would allow them to be behind the chair Wednesday nights and Saturdays.
